Truth Telling- As A Parenting Strategy

This is a Toad!!

When your children stare at you with that look that tells you they don't believe what you are saying.  You know that  piercing look. No matter how many times you try to say it, they still don't buy it. So how do they know that you are lying  and how much truth is it okay to say?



I feel that it is very important to accurately mirror your reality. If you are sad that you did not get the promotion at work then say it. Or that you have been trying to lose weight or exercise and it is difficult. Or that you are tired and would like to have some help.
Of course, it is always important to be age  appropriate

You are smart, just use your common sense about it. You may find that there is a subtle shift for the better in everyone's behavior.
